Manchester United Liverpool
Is it Liverpools to lose?
Oh, what a day, what a match. The first fixture I look out for when the new schedule comes out every year. Although both teams have not been simultaneously fighting for the top of the table in over a decade, this match still brings out the best from two teams that are historical rivals both economically and in football.
Last year, a dogged draw played out by Solskjaer boys avoided Liverpool winning the title. Such a small dent in the Liverpool juggernaut was celebrated like a title win by United. Fortunes have turned around so drastically for both teams. This would have been Liverpool before Rodgers’ era – celebrating a dent in United’s leagues charge.
This year, with Liverpool 8 points ahead of its rivals, with media talks about ‘Its Liverpool’s to lose’, pressure on Liverpool is immense. While United undergo a rebuilding phase, they have no pressure or expectations from anyone to perform well in this match, but Solskjaer is under immense pressure to start moving upwards in the table. This along with Solskjaer classical matches with Liverpool as a player puts him in a critical place to transform the sinking ship called Manchester United into a winning machine soon.
United have their worries with player injuries also. De Gea picked up a knock during international duty. He is their outstanding player for numerous seasons, and has saved them 12 points on average every season since SAF’s departure. If he is sidelined and a weakened defense, expect, Liverpool to roll over Manchester United in this match, especially, with Becker back for Liverpool.
Match prediction: Liverpool to win at odds 1.8
